I need help, what can I do? It’s in the Bible, Jeremiah 33:3, NKJV. “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
At any moment, no matter the circumstances, God is there to help. It’s in the Bible, Psalms 46:1-3, NKJV. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling.
Helping one another is an important part of Christian living. It’s in the Bible, Galatians 6:2, NIV. “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
We should help each other, and not take advantage of those in need. It’s in the Bible, Leviticus 25:35, NKJV. "If one of your brethren becomes poor, and falls into poverty among you, then you shall help him, like a stranger or a sojourner, that he may live with you. Take no usury or interest from him; but fear your God, that your brother may live with you.”
Don’t avoid helping others. It’s in the Bible, Deuteronomy 22:4, NKJV. “You shall not see your brother’s donkey or his ox fall down along the road, and hide yourself from them; you shall surely help him lift them up again.”
Helping others is like helping the Lord Himself. It’s in the Bible, Matthew 25:34-40, NIV. “Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’“
Help comes from God, who never sleeps. It's in the Bible, Psalms 121:1-4, NKJV. “I will lift up my eyes to the hills— from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.”
God knows all your struggles, He can give you the help you need. It’s in the Bible, Hebrews 4:15-16, NKJV. “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
What if I don’t know how to pray? The Holy Spirit helps us with our prayers. It’s in the Bible, Romans 8:26, NKJV. “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
The Holy Spirit is our Helper. It’s in the Bible, John 14:26, NKJV. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”
What if I am struggling with faith and believing God? Jesus can help us with our struggles of faith and belief. It’s in the Bible, Mark 9:23-24, NKJV. “Jesus said to him, ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.’ Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, ‘Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!’
God can free us from the things that are chaining us. It’s in the Bible, Psalms 107:13-14, NKJV. “Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces.”
It is wise to have godly, Christian friends to help you. It’s in the Bible, Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, NKJV. “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up.
Will God still help me, even if I have made a mistake? It’s in the Bible, Psalms 37:23-24, NKJV. “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD upholds him with His hand.”
Who can be against us? It’s in the Bible, Isaiah 50: 7-8, NKJV. “For the Lord GOD will help Me; therefore I will not be disgraced; therefore I have set My face like a flint, and I know that I will not be ashamed. He is near who justifies Me; who will contend with Me? Let us stand together. Who is My adversary? Let him come near Me.
Jesus knows it all--every sorrow, every grief; He will not leave you to sink, for His arms are beneath you. It’s in the Bible, Deuteronomy 33:26-27, NKJV. “There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, Who rides the heavens to help you, and in His excellency on the clouds. The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, And will say, ‘Destroy!’
Make ways to remember times when Jesus helped you in your times of need. It’s in the Bible, 1 Samuel 7:12, NKJV. “Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the LORD has helped us.”
