What makes human life valuable? Human beings are made in the image of God. It's in the Bible, Genesis 9:6, NIV. "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man."
Each moment of life is a gift of God. It's in the Bible, Psalm 39:4, TLB. "Lord, help me to realize how brief my time on earth will be. Help me to know that I am here for but a moment more."
Living life in the light of eternity makes life valuable. It's in the Bible, Psalm 90:12, TLB. "Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should."
Living unselfishly for the gospel makes life valuable. It's in the Bible, Mark 8:35, TLB. "If you insist on saving your life, you will lose it. Only those who throw away their lives for My sake and for the sake of the Good News will ever know what it means to really live."
Spiritual life is self-sacrificing. It's in the Bible, Luke 9:25, NIV. "What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?"
Spiritual life is living in fellowship with Christ and can be found only in Him. It's in the Bible, Romans 6:5-7, TLB. "For you have become a part of Him, and so you died with Him, so to speak, when He died; and now you share His new life, and shall rise as He did. Your old evil desires were nailed to the cross with Him; that part of you that loves to sin was crushed and fatally wounded, so that your sin-loving body is no longer under sin's control, no longer needs to be a slave to sin; for when you are deadened to sin you are freed from all its allure and its power over you." John 14:6, NIV says, "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'"
